Beginning May 10, Up Norway travelers can experience private access to Norway’s renowned Kistefos Museum, named a must-see cultural destination by The New York Times. Located just north of Oslo, Kistefos is home to one of Europe’s most impressive contemporary sculpture parks. Its centerpiece, The Twist, is an architectural marvel—a striking, 1,000-square-meter gallery that twists 90 degrees over the Randselva River, seamlessly blending art, nature, and design.
This season’s new program is especially exciting, featuring exhibitions from three internationally acclaimed contemporary artists:
- Christina Quarles (USA) – Known for her dynamic, abstract paintings exploring identity, race, and more, Quarles’ work plays with perception, fluidity, and the human form. Her pieces have been exhibited at The Met, Venice Biennale, and Tate Modern.
- Kathleen Ryan (USA) – A sculptor renowned for her intricate, oversized fruit installations embedded with semi-precious stones, Ryan’s work challenges perceptions of beauty and decay. Her pieces have been exhibited at Art Basel, The New Museum, and Hammer Museum.
- Nairy Baghramian (Iran/Germany) – Recognized for her thought-provoking sculptures that examine the relationship between architecture, functionality, and the human body, Baghramian was awarded the 2022 Nasher Prize for Sculpture. Her work is in the collections of MoMA, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Centre Pompidou.
