The Tranquillity of Tuscany at Villa Saletta

For peace and serenity, nothing beats a private villa vacation in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. Surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature, Villa Saletta is a rural retreat that excels in effortless luxury.

With its rolling hills, wooded valleys, acres of bountiful vineyards, and ancient olive groves. Villa Saletta offers a secluded haven where you can enjoy a quieter pace of life, gracefully immersed in nature.

As with most historic country estates in Tuscany, Villa Saletta has a vibrant and enthralling heritage. Dating back to medieval times, Villa Saletta was once a borgo (village) that thrived on its agricultural enterprise owned by generations of Italian nobility. In the 14th century, it was purchased by the esteemed Gambacorta family, who consolidated all the lands into a sprawling estate. Then it was purchased by the Ricardi family, who were respected Florentine bankers to the famous house of Medici, who transformed the village into a profitable working estate during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Twenty years ago, the stewardship of Villa Saletta passed into the ‘Hands’ family who lovingly gave the estate a renaissance, by considerately restoring the historic buildings, and reviving its ancient vineyards so that its legacy winemaking traditions could continue. The Villa Saletta estate is now a thriving and impressive enterprise combining luxury hospitality with winemaking, olive oil production and farming. What guests will discover now is a beautifully unspoilt world of 30 hectares of vineyards, alongside well-established olive groves, wildflower meadows, woodlands and farmland.

Villa Saletta offers three historic villas for holiday rentals. Each property is unique and features original architectural details, welcoming interiors, beautifully maintained gardens, and a private pool. The lifestyle at Villa Saletta’s elegant villas is one of laid-back luxury, where much time is spent enjoying al-fresco living. From breakfast on the terrace to lazy hours spent by the pool, long lunches enjoyed under a shaded pergola, and sunset picnics in the vineyards. From dawn to dusk Villa living is a relaxed affair.

For those who love time spent in nature, the estate is the perfect place to discover Tuscany’s flora and fauna with endless hiking trails and countryside to explore. Take an early evening walk along the quiet country lanes and you may spot roe deer, porcupines, hares, or even occasionally a wild boar or two in the distance.

If food and wine are your thing. then Villa Saletta is a prime destination for a gourmet vacation. Take time to savour the estate’s excellent 0km wines that are deliciously shaped by the character of the ancient and unique terroir.

This award-winning winery is also the ideal place to learn about the traditional winemaking process from start to finish.

From villa cooking classes to truffle hunting, sunset picnics to olive picking, hand-delivered organic meat boxes for the barbecue to enlisting the services of a skilled private chef. Villa Saletta is the perfect venue for gathering with friends and family around the traditional Tuscan table.
