The Luxurious Under-The-Radar Ski Community in The West

Popular ski mountains like Aspen and Park City are known for long lift lines, crowded cafeterias and overpriced passes, so it’s no surprise that ski-loving families are seeking out less populated mountain towns where they can actually enjoy fresh snow and the wonders of nature.

With Teton Valley being one of the last ski destinations in the west where there is stellar snow and winter activities, access to national parks, and an under-the-radar ski mountain, a new generation of adventurers are creating a growing community in the area.

Enter Tributary, Teton Valley’s luxury residential community that is a quick 20-minute drive to Grand Targhee Resort, which has been operating in the area since 1969. As a perk for homeowners, Tributary offers access to a members-only lounge at the base of the Grand Targhee for residents to warm up and enjoy refreshments, in addition to shuttle transportation from the development to the mountain. Tributary offers residences that range from 3-6 bedrooms, which all have unbeatable views of the Tetons and Teton River, and exclusive resident access to the community’s luxury amenities.

Tributary: The 1,500 low-density private community offers a one-of-a-kind setting, rich in wildlife, ponds and wetlands, and mountain town culture. The outdoor centric community has seen recent success with over $150 million in sales. Residents have access to the following amenities: a two-mile, elevated boardwalk; 18-hole David McLay Kidd-designed golf course; wellness facility; farm-to-table restaurant and bar; pool/hot tub; seven fishing ponds; trails for cross-country skiing; kid-friendly snowmobile track and ice-skating rink; archery and tomahawk-throwing center; and a members-only ski lounge at the Grand Targhee Resort base.

What’s new at Grand Targhee?: The mountain recently added the new high-speed, six-pack Colter Chairlift for the 2023-2024 ski season, that gives skiers access to untouched snow and cat-skiing powder. Operating since 1969, the resort has 2,600 acres of terrain and gets an annual average of 500+ inches of snow. Visitors can use a mountain collective pass or purchase a day or season pass directly from the resort. The resort is popular with locals in Teton Valley and Jackson Hole,  and lift lines are typically short – if there are any at all! Outside of Tributary’s exclusive lounge, Grand Targhee also offers a variety of restaurants and cafés, as well as the iconic Trap Bar & Grill for the best après in the area. Insider’s tip: Grand Targhee gets more snow than nearby Jackson Hole Mountain!
