Kinsdale Golf Club Names Mike Scully at GM/Director of Golf

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. (October 16, 2023) – Kinsale Golf Club, a highly anticipated golf club founded by long-time southwest Florida businessman Anthony Soave, has named Mike Scully as its general manager/director of golf in advance of its opening in the fall of 2024.

“Kinsale Golf Club will focus on having the finest services for its members and guests,” Soave said. “Mike’s unparalleled career of commitment and success as a golf professional and club manager is a perfect fit for us.”

Scully (pictured left), with three decades of work in the industry, joins Kinsale from Streamsong Resort in Lakeland, Fla., the latest of his career stops that also include Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga., Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, and Medinah Country Club near Chicago. During his time at Desert Mountain, he served in key roles as the club hosted the Charles Schwab Championship on the PGA Tour Champions from 2014-2016. During his time at Medinah, Scully was instrumental in the club’s hosting the 2006 PGA Championship and the 2012 Ryder Cup.

“The opportunity to get back to Southwest Florida, where my career started, was one I couldn’t pass up,” said Scully, who will oversee club and golf operations. “My time at Kemper and Streamsong was outstanding but the chance to create the culture and traditions from Day 1 is something I haven’t experienced in my career, and I cannot wait to get started.”

Scully, who studied communications at the University of Illinois where he played on the 1984 Rose Bowl team, later earned a degree in hospitality management from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He played briefly in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs.

A member of the PGA of America since 1999, Scully was named Illinois PGA Professional of the Year in 2008. He has two sons and a daughter.

Kinsale Golf Club will be located on prime southwestern Florida land owned by Soave. The course is designed by the renowned architecture team of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner, who are employing C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor design elements on this natural piece of Florida landscape.

The course is intended to have the look and feel of a links course with an almost limitless variety of challenges for golfers of all skill levels. It will operate with a membership of 250 from October through May of each year. The golf club will include an 18-hole golf course, driving range, teaching and short-game areas, practice putting green and a clubhouse.

Kinsale Golf Club was established from a love of the game but also out of a core understanding, appreciation and respect for the traditions, rules, and honorable nature that golf embodies.
