Discover Puerto Rico & American Junior Golf Association to Host “Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship”

Braselton, GA – The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is excited to announce its partnership with Discover Puerto Rico, the destination marketing organization for the Island to host the Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship. This prestigious event is set to showcase Puerto Rico as a top golfing destination and provide young, aspiring golfers with an extraordinary opportunity to compete on a world-class course. The Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship will take place from January 11-14, 2024, at the magnificent Grande Reserve Golf Club which annually hosts the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. It is expected to draw some of the most promising young talents in junior golf from across the United States and around the world.

Discover Puerto Rico’s involvement as the title sponsor for this event underscores its commitment to promoting Puerto Rico as a premier golf destination and supporting the development of junior golfers. The partnership aims to highlight Puerto Rico’s stunning golf courses, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant culture.

Puerto Rico boasts a rich golfing heritage with 18 state-of-the-art gold courses at 14 properties throughout Puerto Rico, with several championship-caliber courses designed by world-renowned architects, set against the backdrop of the island’s lush landscapes and breathtaking coastline. The Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship promises to provide young golfers with a memorable experience on and off the course.

Discover Puerto Rico also invites those visiting the Island to ‘Live Boricua,’ reflecting a campaign currently running and born out of the essence of Puerto Rico. Created to celebrate Boricuas and rooted in the spirit of the Island, it embodies a state of mind and a way of life that exemplifies Puerto Rico’s proud, passionate people.​

This will not be the first time the AJGA has conducted a tournament in Puerto Rico. From 2011 through 2016. Many recognizable names played in some of the early tournaments in Puerto Rico, including Sam Burns (2012), Cameron Champ (T2, 2013), Wyndham Clark (2012) and Emiliano Grillo (5th, 2011). The Puerto Rico Golf Association continues to be a partner with the AJGA to bring junior golf to the island.
