Qatar Museums cultural programme
A series of large-scale cultural initiatives and exhibitions in Qatari museums and galleries is scheduled for autumn 2022. An anchor of the programme will be the reopening of the legendary Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), designed by I M Pei, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect behind the glass pyramid entrance of the Louvre in Paris. The celebrated landmark in the heart of Doha will re-open in October with a unique collection of completely new thematic interpretations, as well as a new exhibition, Baghdad: Eye’s Delight, about one of the greatest cities of the Islamic world.
The list of must-see events includes the Forever Valentino exhibition, Maison Valentino’s biggest show to date and its first show in the Middle East. And the cultural programme will also include the opening of the Art Mill Museum 2030 exhibition dedicated to the future international museum of contemporary art, designed by the world-famous architect Alejandro Aravena. The museum will house an interdisciplinary collection formed over the past 40 years.
At the same time, the Al Riwaq Gallery will open a new exhibition that prefigures a new Lusail Museum designed by Herzog & de Meuron, which is currently under development. The gallery’s first-class collection will include Orientalist art and archaeological artifacts from prehistoric times to the present day.

Located in the heart of the country’s future city, Lusail is the recently opened Le Méridien Doha hotel, featuring striking neo-classical architecture. The hotel introduces travellers to the brand’s chic design and distinctly European spirit. And coming up is the pioneer of Qatar’s all-inclusive system, the Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha, as well as the luxury complex The St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island, The Pearl Qatar, which includes hotel apartments and exclusive residences.
