Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort is is set to mark its milestone 20-year anniversary with a series of activities and experiences that highlight the resort’s commitment to eco-responsibility. Reopening for the season with refreshed outlets, the program will include an inaugural amateur anniversary golf tournament, a delectable Michelin-starred six-hands dinner and an array of curated partnerships.

The resort, an exclusive oasis which is set in a 750-acre estate and easily accessible from the French Riviera, was a pioneer for sustainably focused tourism when it opened two decades ago. This continued commitment was recognized in January 2024 with Terre Blanche being awarded a Green Key certificate. The distinction recognizes the resort’s commitment to the preservation of its environment over the past two decades.

The resort has also been recognized as a Sustainability Leader by The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) in February 2024. Only 50 Leading Hotels are part of this prestigious collection of rigorously vetted Leading Hotels that meet the highest standards of cultural, social, and environmental sustainability.

20th anniversary activities include:

  • On Sunday, May 19, the resort’s 18-hole golf course will host the Terre Blanche 20 Years Open – an anniversary golf competition for guests and golf amateurs.
  • This summer, the resort will welcome a Michelin-starred six hands dinner with acclaimed chefs Stéphanie Le Quellec, Philippe Jourdin and Terre Blanche’s Christophe Schmitt.
  • The Terre Blanche Spa will offer a new signature treatment harnessing local produce and the expertise of Valmont. Guests will be able to enjoy ‘Les Trésors de la Ruche’ (a 60 minute ‘Beehive massage’), followed by a 30-minute ‘Majestueuse’ Valmont facial. The treatment will finish with tea made with honey from Tanneron (Pays de Fayence) and honey cakes created by the resort’s pastry chef Jérémie Gressier.
  • The resort will play host to a special Earth Day event on Sunday, April 21 to celebrate its commitment to a more sustainable form of tourism.
  • The resort’s wine cellar will focus on the 2004 vintage, where guests can book one of 20 appointments with the resort’s head sommelier, Aurélie Deharbe throughout the summer to sample the finest wines from the region on offer.

Additionally, for the anniversary season, two of the resort’s restaurants, Michelin-starred Le Faventia and gourmet restaurant Le Gaudina, have also undergone a renovation by French Riviera based architect, Philippe Bonino from Phira agency. An essential element of the redesign was to redefine the spaces while keeping the spirit and identity of the restaurants. The design team reused as much of the existing furniture as possible by restoring elements, such as the chairs, with a view to ethical consumption and a focus on the details.

At Le Gaudina, the walls have been covered using Marmorino, a technique which originated from Italian stucco and accented by the large porcelain stone wall bases by Marazzi. The walls have been fitted wooden panels in an acoustic structure, with the addition of a set of illuminating stained-glass windows made exclusively for this project and a line-up of chandeliers, designed by Thomas O’Brien.

At Le Faventia, the design thread continues with the same wall treatment, enhanced by a composition of glass, mirror and bronze glazing within the restaurant’s four large wall alcoves which exhibit abstract paintings.

The new fabrics and trimmings have been chosen from French houses including Rubelli, Nobilis, Canovas and Houles, which add to the restaurants’ timeless and elegant surroundings.

Philippe Bonino, the project’s architect says, “Throughout the renovation process, we remained committed to preserving the soul of Le Faventia* and Le Gaudina. To achieve this, we carefully curated a selection of high-quality, luxurious, and natural materials, embracing the beauty of raw elements. Every detail was chosen to enhance the dining experience and evoke a sense of timeless sophistication, in harmony with the exceptional quality of the art collections on display.”

The resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant Le Faventia, which offers panoramic views over the unspoiled villages and the hills of the Pays de Fayence, will reopen on Thursday April 18. Le Gaudina has reopened today and will offer guests an updated bar concept. Now clearly distinct from the main restaurant area, there is a new, relaxed area where guests can enjoy a drink at the bar.
