Roots of Reggaetón: A Celebration of Puerto Rico’s Cultural Heritage at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Tucked away on Puerto Rico’s northern coast, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a sanctuary of magnificence, encompassing 1,400 idyllic acres. On August 31st, the estate is proud to present a celebration of the island’s cultural heritage through Fiestas del Pueblo. Reaching out to share details about this festival for any experiential travel roundups or cultural immersion stories you may be working on.
In collaboration with local artists, musicians, and dancers, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve presents a festival complete with traditional food, artisan booths, and live entertainment.
- Song and dance: Fiestas del Pueblo begins with a folk music welcome. Dancers will then present bomba, a dance of the African diaspora and cornerstone of the island’s heritage that has influenced later styles such as salsa and reggaetón. DJs and musicians throughout the night will keep the dancefloor moving and grooving.
- Gastronomic delights: Interactive food stations hosted by the estate’s award-winning culinary team abound. Mouth-watering dishes include Alcapurrias de Cordero Guisado, a braised lamb stew with plantain and taro root, Carrucho y Arepas, conch salad with sweet pepper escabeche and coconut arepas, and a wood fire roasted local whole pig. Guests can also enjoy sweet treats, such as a Piragua cart for shaved ice and fruit syrups.
