Redding is California’s Winter Playground for Mountain Biking and Hiking
Redding, California, located just below the Oregon border in the shadow of Mt. Shasta, is the idyllic playground for cold weather recreation due to its mild winters and labyrinth of trails not to mention its affordability compared to other California destinations, such as Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain.
With an impressive 225 miles of well-groomed hiking and cycling trails within a 15-mile radius of Redding’s historic downtown, currently undergoing a renaissance, Redding has earned the accolade of “Trails Capital of California.”
Hikers and cyclists enjoy less crowds, easy-to-challenging trail choices, rugged terrains as well as paved pathways. The scenery is also diverse with snowcapped peaks, flowing rivers and hidden waterfalls.

Cloverdale and Clearcreek: Clear Creek
Whiskeytown: Icebox
Westside Trails: Top of the World
Keswick: Chamise Peak
