FAJARDO, PR – March 3, 2025 – Moncayo, a groundbreaking and visionary 1,100-acre luxury development along Puerto Rico’s eastern seacoast, today announced the unveiling of its Golf Club, designed in collaboration with award-winning UK-based golf course architecture firm, Mackenzie & Ebert. Known for designing legendary courses across Europe, this marks Mackenzie & Ebert’s first golf course in the Caribbean which will set a new standard for private, world-class golf in North America. Reserved exclusively for resident members and their guests, the Golf Club will welcome all skill levels and has been designed to integrate seamlessly with the natural beauty of the landscape, offering panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, the El Yunque Mountains and the island’s pristine shoreline while enhancing the Moncayo community and wellness-focused residential experiences.
“Partnering with Mackenzie & Ebert to introduce this breathtaking golf course to the island was an easy decision, given their track record for crafting some of the most well known golf clubs around the world,” said Carter Redd, President of Moncayo. “Moncayo’s Golf Club is more than a place to play golf — it is an experience that will challenge residents and their guests, while also providing a relaxed, fun round of casual golf for generational families and dear friends.”
The Club will feature an 18-hole championship Golf Course spanning over 7,200 yards with six sets of tees, accommodating golfers of all levels of play. The course includes several holes with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. For the first time in Puerto Rico, Mackenzie & Ebert’s signature approach to course design is being brought to life, creating a playing experience unlike anything else on the island. Each hole will be designed to effortlessly blend with the natural topography winding between the predominant hills across the course, as well as those playing along the coast. Additionally, a one-acre putting course, “El Yunquito” will provide a fun, social space for both practice and relaxed entertainment.
In addition to the 18-hole Golf Course, Moncayo’s Golf Club will feature a 9-hole short “Family Course”, designed as a fun alternative for short-game practice. This course offers a dynamic layout that appeals to families, seasoned golfers and those looking for a quicker round.
Within the Golf House on the practice facility is the Golf Performance Center, designed to elevate the game with dedicated instruction and innovative technologies and techniques. Leading all golf operations and instruction will be Manuel Relancio, PGA, originally from Buenos Aires but having spent the last 10 years overseeing teams at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.
“Designing our first course in the Caribbean has been an exciting challenge, one that allows us to blend renowned design with the natural beauty of Puerto Rico and the wonderful land at Moncayo as we grow our international footprint,” said Martin Ebert, Co-Founder of Mackenzie & Ebert. “Our design seeks to respect and enhance the island’s natural landscape with a layout that challenges golfers while offering truly breathtaking 360-degree views of the ocean and mountains for a unique sense of its location.”
Construction of the course is already underway, with shaping completed on the first four holes and progress continuing on practice grounds.
“The test with golf is always whether people will remember each individual hole at the end of the round, and I think there will be no problem at all at Moncayo,” said Martin Ebert, Co-Founder of Mackenzie & Ebert. “Every hole will be very memorable.”
Serving as the gateway to the Caribbean, Moncayo will be the new standard for luxury living, offering direct access to endless water sports, a private island beach, and an exclusive Member’s clubhouse and Athletic Club with stadium courts for tennis, pickleball, and padel.
In addition to the private club amenities, the community will have full access to an Auberge Resorts Collection HoteI along the oceanfront hotel with extensive dining options, a curated and inspired spa and wellness program, and branded resort villas and private residences – all with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and Spanish Virgin Islands. Moncayo will also feature a 100-acre napa-inspired organic farm, plant and tree nursery that will provision the farm-stand and farm-to-table culinary experiences on property. The Village will further enhance the community with walkable shops, boutique retail, Class A offices, a concierge medical clinic, and an accredited K-12 International School, fostering a dynamic, multigenerational lifestyle.
