(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – PGA National Resort – South Florida’s luxurious, world-class golf, vacation, culinary, events and spa destination – will showcase the stunning results of its fully realized $100 million transformation as it hosts the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic played on its acclaimed Champion Course, Feb. 23 – 26.
As the first stop of the PGA Tour’s “Florida Swing” and host venue since 2007, the dramatic “new” resort property features 99 holes of exceptional golf ranging from four “traditional” 18s (including the mighty Champion Course with its famous Bear Trap) to a duo of bold and innovative new Andy Staples-designed layouts, The Match and The Staple courses.
The overall property transformation was inspired by the sophisticated “Palm Beach lifestyle” for a timeless vibrancy. In addition to the nostalgic vibe brought to the 360 guestrooms, private “Cottages” and common areas, the exceptional changes also focus heavily on superb dining where guests are guided by their palate throughout the day. Among the six new culinary concepts are two signature restaurants spearheaded by “Top Chef” winner Jeremy Ford and multiple James Beard Award nominee Lindsay Autry, The Butcher’s Club and Honeybelle.
PGA National Resort offers a wide array of exclusive luxury vacation packages ideal for fun-packed stays highlighted by loads of family fun, culinary delights, pampering spa treatments, and a host of sports and wellness activities. The resort’s Gold Golf stay-and-play package is just the ticket for golf aficionados and groups to tee it up daily on one of the famed property’s layouts (surcharge for play on The Champion and The Palmer courses). Additional features include luxury accommodations with a private balcony or terrace, breakfast each day, complimentary range balls and club storage as well as use of the resort’s state-of-the-art Sports & Racquet Club.
“We are so excited to once again welcome the golfing world and best players in the game to PGA National Resort for the Honda Classic as we showcase our incredible property,” says Joseph Fisher, Managing Director. “We cordially invite one and all to visit us and savor our exciting roster of courses, premier accommodations and world-class resort amenities all combining to place us in the highest echelons of vacation destinations in the U.S.”
Since opening for play in 2021 to wide acclaim, few course debuts in recent years were as highly anticipated as The Match Course with its exciting goal of encouraging “match” versus “stroke” play. Built on the land of the legendary resort’s former Squire Course, the 18-hole layout is inspired by classic golf course design principles while specifically using the famed “template holes” concept for the inspired ideas from the “Golden Era” of course architecture.
The Match Course joined PGA National Resort’s splendid new nine-hole Staple Course which also opened in 2021 to rave reviews. With holes ranging from 60 – 130 yards, The Staple Course requires just a few clubs and places an emphasis on fast, joyous rounds with its par-three design, numerous “hole-in-one” pin locations and a figure-eight configuration complete with Adirondack chairs for after-hours socializing.
The resort highlights topnotch instruction at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, Dave Pelz Scoring Game School, and the world’s first science-based and statistical data-driven golf training center, Full Process Golf. PGA National Resort also offers state-of-the-art club fitting.
The new Spa at the legendary South Florida destination offers 40,000 square feet of tranquility and wellness. The serene oasis provides the perfect escape to breathe, heal and rejuvenate with individualized holistic care. The Spa’s comprehensive menu of restorative treatments are designed to evoke lightness, openness and a deep sense of well-being.
Additional amenities include its superlative 33,000 square-foot health and racquet club with 19 Har Tru tennis courts (12 lit for night play); 60,000 square feet of indoor / outdoor event space. Guests can now enjoy a new high-end chocolatier, ice cream shop and brand-new “Kids Club” experience.
