Nova Maldives Launches New Meditation & Wellness Rituals

London, 12 December 2022: Nova Maldives has introduced a new meditation experience with an underwater spin which combines the benefits of meditation with the magical experience of swimming with whale sharks, plus a collection of traditional Dhivehi Beys spa treatments based on ancient Maldivian medicinal wisdom.

NEW Meditative Whale Shark Experience

Nova has introduced a new all-in-one spiritual experience that combines guided meditation with the underwater world of the South Ari Atoll and its wonders including whale sharks, manta rays and turtles. It aims to help guests find the balance of mind, body and spirit within themselves. The 3-hr experience begins with a 30-minute guided meditation session by the in-house yogi to identify and embrace thoughts and emotions objectively. Guests then travel a short boat ride across the Indian Ocean for an independent snorkelling session in the surrounding pristine waters. Guests can expect to see manta rays, eagle rays, reef sharks, blueline snappers and a plethora of colourful fish. The area is renowned for its whale sharks, also known as the gentle giants of the ocean, and is the only place in the world where it is possible to snorkel with them all year round, providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The journey finishes back at the soulful Nova with nibbles and mocktails, specially prepared by the culinary team to hydrate the body and a peaceful end to this highly cathartic and personal pilgrimage to wellbeing.

NEW Authentic Dhivehi Beys Spa Treatments

Nova has added a new collection of authentic Maldivian spa treatments to the Eskape spa treatment selection that are integral to the Maldivian heritage. They have been curated based on ancient Dhivehi Beys rituals, the sacred wisdom of traditional Maldivian medicine which consists of practices that allow guests to bond with nature and strengthen their body and spirit. The philosophy is characterised by great civilisations around the world, from the Arabs and Greeks to Indian, Persian, and Chinese, and carries with it the secrets about the benefits of natural cycles of nature, its environment, as well as the healing and nourishing effects of the diverse flora and fauna in the nation.

Drift Away Treatment – A 90-minute experience of complete rejuvenation and healing to detoxify and improve blood circulation. The treatment includes a cleansing foot ritual, short meditation, full body massage and a noni leaf back mask to relieve pressure in the muscles. The evergreen leaves of the noni tree, also known as Indian Mulberry, are famous for their various healing properties and have been used to tend to arthritis, abdominal swelling, headache and skin irritations.

The Maldivian Serenity Treatment – Enjoy double the pleasure in this immersive and serene treatment where guests have two therapists’ undivided attention. It includes a scalp massage, a cleansing foot ritual and a trunk roller massage to help release the tension of knots. Performed in a room filled with the scent of coconut oil and Dhiggaa plant (sea hibiscus), the former has anti-ageing and antioxidant properties, while the latter offers relief to body ailments and stomach pains.

NEW Tropical Body Polish Treatment – Enveloped by stress-melting steam, the skin is cleansed and polished by Nova’s signature purifying scrub, made from coconut and healing morning glory leaves, which calms nerves, reduces swelling, smoothens the skin’s blemishes and alleviates joint pain. The treatment is then followed by a facial massage and concludes with relaxing cranial head sacral therapy.

Perched overwater upon the whimsical blue of Nova’s lagoon, Eskape spa has everything needed for all wellness needs and features three blissful treatment rooms, a Thai Sala, a relaxation room and a yoga pavilion.

A seven-night stay at Nova Maldives departing 30 May 2023 costs from £2,559pp (saving £223pp) based on two-sharing a Beachfront Villa on a full-board basis. The price includes return flights from Heathrow and transfers. Book at www.tui.co.uk
