New Year, New GM for Desert-Troon’s Torreon Golf Club

Show Low, Ariz. – (January 3, 2023) – Desert Troon Companies, a Scottsdale-based real estate development and investment firm, has named Caleb Blass as the new general manager at its Torreon Golf Club in Show Low, AZ. Most recently, Blass served as Torreon’s acting General Manager and prior to that as Assistant General Manager. In these positions he demonstrated his leadership capabilities while successfully executing significant capital improvement projects and new member protocols.

“Caleb has enhanced member experiences through improved and expanded partnerships and programing,” shared Dan Smith, president of Desert Troon Companies. “As an effective and empathetic leader during a time of significant growth here at Torreon, Caleb continues to demonstrate his willingness to listen and learn from others, lead through example and find solutions that benefit both valued members and his team.”

Blass first joined the Torreon team in April 2021 as Head Golf Professional and quickly fell in love with the area and Torreon. Blass says that he and his wife Lyndsay look forward to the future of Torreon and getting to raise their son Jed in the White Mountains.

With over a decade of experience at The Broadmoor, a five-star, five-diamond resort property, I bring a high level of hospitality experience and professionalism that will allow me to lead and enhance our Torreon team.”

His priorities as the new General Manager include becoming more involved in the Torreon Community as the face of the management team for members. Blass has a passion for knowing and listening to each club and team member as he prioritizes what the club can provide its membership. Coming from a background focused on employee culture, Caleb will also focus on creating an atmosphere where club staff are delighted to join. Additionally, he’s focused on enhancing the dining experience through the use of new technologies and creative culinary concepts.

Prior to his roles at Torreon, Blass served as the Head Golf Professional at the prestigious Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a Certified PGA Professional, having completed four PGA certified programs: Golf Operations, General Management, Player Development, and Teaching and Coaching. Blass was born and raised in Trumansburg, NY and graduated from SUNY Delhi, where he played on the college golf team and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Professional Golf Management.
