New Magic Cocktail Menu Crafted by Renowned Magician Launches this Fall at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (October 9, 2024) – The AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit invites guests to revel in magic mixology this fall. In collaboration with the resort’s mixology team, Velas Resorts’ exclusive magician for 20 years, Roberto Zenteno Solís, crafted the new cocktail menu with entertainment in mind. Solis, better known as “Spider,” was recently honored with the prestigious Merlin Award. Considered the “Oscar” of the magic industry, the Merlin Award recognizes magicians for excellence, originality, showmanship, skills and ability to entertain under any circumstance.

Beginning November, Spider will use his expertise to captivate resort guests with a new selection of magic cocktails inspired by classic Mexican spirits. At the resort’s Koi Bar, guests can enjoy Spider’s mesmerizing performances as part of the resort’s robust all-inclusive entertainment offerings.

Magical cocktails on tap include a smokey pineapple & rosemary margarita enhanced with a liquid nitrogen “smoke bomb”, and a Carajillo in flames, Mexico’s bold take on an espresso martini decorated with shimmering gold beans. While the illusion of the libations are best enjoyed alongside Magician Spider’s live show, the recipes are included below for those wishing to recreate the magic at home, just in time for Halloween.

Smokey pineapple & rosemary margarita: 

  • 1 ½ oz Tequila blanco
  • 1 oz Controy liqueur
  • 1 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 2 oz Roasted pineapple puree
  • 1 oz Agave syrup
  • Fresh rosemary

Procedure: Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Serve in an old fashioned frosted tajin glass, decorated with a branch of rosemary and dehydrated pineapple. Place inside a smoker with rosemary, cover, then lift to reveal a smokey surprise.  

Carajillo in flames:

  • 1 ½ oz Licor 43
  • 2 Shots of espresso
  • Soft Bailey’s foam
  • Gold coffee beans

Procedure: Pour the espresso and the liqueur into a shaker with ice and mix vigorously for 30 seconds. Froth Bailey’s with a milk frother or whisk in a cup. Serve in an old fashioned glass, and place the soft Bailey’s foam afloat. Top with golden coffee beans.
