Mexico Open at Vidanta Prepares for its Third Edition
Mexico City, January 24, 2024. – The Mexico Open at Vidanta, the premier social, gastronomic, and sporting event in Mexico and Latin America, is just 32 days away from crowning its 2024 champion. This event, part of the prestigious PGA TOUR, will take place from February 22 to 25 at the Vidanta Vallarta golf course at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort.
The field will feature 132 professional players, including and led by the American Tony Finau, the 2023 champion with six victories on the PGA TOUR. This year, the purse has been raised to $8.1 million, and the tournament winner will receive 500 FedExCup points.

From Veracruz, Mexico, Raúl Pereda joins the tournament in his first season as a PGA TOUR cardholder. Last year, his participation in the Mexico Open at Vidanta marked his debut on the premier circuit. The young golfer made the weekend cut and positioned himself among the top performers, providing an unforgettable and enlightening experience for his still young career. In December 2023, Pereda secured his status in the top category by finishing fifth in the Q-School, showcasing his quality against the international elite.
Grupo Salinas and Grupo Vidanta remain fully committed to continuing to promote Mexican and Latin American golf. In the first two editions, 15 Mexican golfers have participated in the Mexico Open at Vidanta, and this year is no exception. So far, from Tamaulipas, Rodolfo Cazaubón has earned an exemption to compete against the best players on the PGA TOUR. Last Sunday, Jalisco’s Santiago de la Fuente, a player from the Azteca High-Performance Program (ARA), joined the field due to his victory in the Latin American Amateur Championship (LAAC) in Panama. The University of Houston student will return to Vidanta Vallarta, where he was part of the 2022 edition. Ecuadorian Renato Naula received an invitation following his victory in the VALUE Next Generation by TaylorMade Qualifying Tournament.

The PGA TOUR has highlighted the excellent conditions of the Vidanta Vallarta golf course, categorizing it as the best fairway on the TOUR and one of the top courses throughout the season. Of the 120 individuals comprising the course staff, 30 are specifically focused on the requirements of a PGA TOUR venue. Delicate work is carried out in every aspect and area of the course: tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, and greens. With very high standards, it is a course in perfect condition every day of the year.
