JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (November 27, 2023) — The historic Jekyll Island Club Resort has unveiled a dazzling holiday display, once again enlisting the talents of award-winning designer and event planner Stacy Bass. Known for his attention to detail and Southern charm, Stacy Bass resides in Brunswick, Ga. and has brought his unique touch to transform the Gilded Age beauty of the Jekyll Island Club Resort into a festive haven.
“I am delighted to once again join forces with Jekyll Island Club Resort to carry forward a legacy of authentic Southern hospitality and exceptional design,” Bass said. “The resort’s timeless elegance and historic charm will shine bright this holiday season.”
Recently retired from Straton Hall Events and bringing with him over two decades of experience, Stacy brings his elaborate designs to Jekyll Island Club Resort, turning the Resort and the Jekyll Island Historic District into the one-of-a-kind holiday destination known as Holly Jolly Jekyll. It takes an average of 1,000 man-hours to execute the holiday design at Jekyll Island Club Resort each year, with 16 different Christmas trees throughout the property, each with its own unique theme. Noteworthy among them are the “Santa’s Mailbox: An Enchanted Entryway” tree at the main entrance, “The Nostalgic Glow of Christmas Past” tree in the Grand Dining Room, and the “Beneath the Sea: Oceanfront Holiday Magic” tree at Jekyll Ocean Club.
The holiday decorations draw inspiration from Jekyll Island Club Resort’s rich history and the extravagant style of the Gilded Age. Constructed in the late 1880s, the Jekyll Island Club Resort served as an exclusive retreat for some of the nation’s most affluent individuals in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, counting among its guests the families of J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and others. While seamlessly providing a modern luxury experience, the resort proudly retains its original Gilded Age grandeur.
“We are truly impressed by the remarkable expertise and meticulous attention to detail that Stacy Bass brings to the holiday decorations at Jekyll Island Club Resort,” said Douglas Rucker, Area Managing Director. His festive creativity and profound grasp of our property’s history genuinely breathe life into the holiday experience for our guests.”
Several holiday-themed activities are to take place at the resort in December, offering guests and visitors the perfect opportunity to experience the holiday displays. Events include traditional High Tea in the Grand Dining Room, Gingerbread House Decorating, Breakfast with the Grinch, and Lunch with Santa. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, guests can indulge in a delectable dinner and festive brunch in the historic Grand Dining Room.
