Get back to nature within an exclusive forest lodge hideaway, located a short drive or cable car ride from the Northern Italian town of Bolzano.
Among the heady mountains of the Italian Alps you’ll find ADLER Lodge RITTEN. It’s been beautifully imagined from the idea of an African safari lodge that has met a typical Tyrolean alpine chalet. The result is impeccable as twenty chalets circle the side of a shimmering green lake. There’s a sense of freedom, lightness, and rawness as these chic spaces elevate the organic surroundings.
The natural world is celebrated throughout the lodge. In its kitchen, you’ll find talented chef Hannes Pignater embracing a thoughtful farm-to-table philosophy.
What this means is that almost all the ingredients are harvested or reared within mere footsteps of ADLER Lodge RITTEN, creating truly fresh plates of food. The lodge boasts its own farm and garden that grows many fruits, vegetables, herbs, and potatoes, which you are free to roam around, explore, and relax in.
The lodge farm grows its own wheat and grain in the summer, which is lovingly kneaded into fresh pasta and pastry dishes.
There’s also a collection of beehives in the forest, which is collected by the lodge’s own on-site beekeeper. In turn, this allows you to go on a rare tasting experience with honey flavoured by local raspberries, truffles, and mead.
Anything that cannot be cultivated in this zero-mile manner is sourced from farms all within the region, which includes organic eggs, fresh homemade juices, Speck bacon, as well as Wagyu and Chianina beef from specially reared grazing herds.
With its all-inclusive arrangement, you’re in for a treat as you tuck into menus that change daily depending on the season and availability.
Fill up each morning with a breakfast feast, before heading to the panoramic restaurant under the stars for dinner. Each recipe beautifully balances the mountain earthiness of the lodge’s environment with the lightness of the Mediterranean. During the afternoon, you will also be served snacks and light dishes on the sun terrace.
If all this gourmet cuisine doesn’t satiate you enough, then perhaps the secluded forest spa will. It’s delightfully decadent, spread across four designated spaces and home to crackling fires, cocooning relaxation pavilions, and a Turkish hammam.
For water lovers, there’s an indoor-outdoor saltwater infinity pool with a panorama over the majestic Dolomite Mountains to dip into.
Slip into one of the spa cabins and indulge in one of the luxurious ADLER Revive rituals, such as a nutritious skin pack or an energising massage.
Moments from the main lodge building along a natural pine-scented forest path you’ll come across two saunas where you can enjoy the traditional multisensory steam wafting ritual of an Aufguss, or a natural hay sauna.
Accommodating children aged eight years and above, you’ll notice the atmosphere of ADLER Lodge RITTEN is mature and more conducive to a romantic retreat away with your partner or some quality together time with friends. We particularly recommend the junior suite categories, where you can enjoy your own in-chalet organic sauna and a wooden balcony for breathtaking views.
With easy rail connections from Milan and Munich, and Innsbruck and Verona airports less than a two-hour drive away, your gourmet spa escape awaits.
