CARSON VALLEY, Nev. (Aug. 2, 2022) – With longer days and more sunshine to go around, summer is the perfect time to get out on the fairways. Carson Valley, just minutes east of Lake Tahoe, might just be Nevada’s best kept golfing secret. Newcomers will discover four communities, four jaw-dropping golf courses, and all at one great destination.
The high-country greens are well maintained and set against an impressive Sierra Nevada backdrop. Whether it’s the spicy elevation changes of Sunridge, classic and relaxed vibes of the Carson Valley Golf Course, or the water and bunker-laden holes at Genoa Lakes Golf Club, there is something for golfers at all skill levels in Carson Valley.
Genoa Lakes Golf Club and Genoa Ranch Golf Course
The Genoa Lakes Golf Club, co-designed by PGA Champion Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III and home to the U.S. Open Qualifier, is a links style course with rolling fairways that meet head-on with the eastern slopes of the breathtaking Sierra. Its sister course, the Ranch Course, built for power and distance by legends Johnny Miller and John Harbottle III, offers wide open spaces and unmatched high desert views. Over 300 feet of elevation changes, more than 100 bunkers, unpredictable mountain terrain, afternoon breezes and a waterfall challenge players to a crash course in championship golf. Intermixed with lush wetlands and the winding Carson River, water adjoins 14 of the holes at the two courses, making long, straight drives the best approach to tackle either course.
Carson Valley Golf Course
While the focus here is affordable, friendly golf, serious golfers also enjoy playing a round at Carson Valley Golf Course. Giant cottonwood trees and the beautiful Carson River make this course unique and inviting. Whether it’s a family affair or a solo expedition, golfers here are in for a good time.
Sunridge Golf Club
Designed for players of all skill levels, Sunridge Golf Club proves challenging while feeding the senses with a relaxing and picturesque backdrop. Tests of accuracy and opportunities to improve your game are found amid the well-placed fairways, water hazards, varied elevations and sand traps.
