Best of Barbados

British-born Mike Toy not only turned his passion for photography into a career, 20 years ago he began plying his trade on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Toy’s color-drenched images of Barbados hotels, resorts, and private residences have evolved into seven books that chronicle the best in Caribbean photography.

Toy’s photographic range includes underwater, aerial, food, and wedding shots. Many of Barbados’ most prestigious hotels call on Toy for highlighting property architecture and interior features. Toy’s “go to” cameras are a Phase One P45 and Nikon D3.

The best time for photographic light in Barbados is usually just after sunrise. Although the shots seen here are from the island’s western and southern peremiter, Toy’s favorite setting for getting away from it all is the lush, hilly, and oh so quiet east coast.
