Annika Sorenstam is attempting to win her first celebrity golf title this week at the Invited Celebrity Classic. She is 0-for-10 in her previous attempts, but has always faired well. Here is a recap of her finishes and thoughts leading up to this year’s Invited Celebrity Classic.
Says Annika on why she continues to play in the celebrity events:
“Because I don’t give up.
I am determined one time to get these guys. That’s the main reason. But I also enjoy it. I have a lot of fun. As you know, I don’t play much nowadays, and this makes me practice a little bit, makes me still kind of stay within the game.
I am competitive and I do enjoy playing and I’m still determined, so I’m going to keep trying.”
The Invited Celebrity Classic presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is a unique, officially sanctioned 54-hole PGA TOUR Champions tournament that features 78 professional golfers, including John Daly, and 40 celebrity golfers vying for $2.7 million in prize money ($2.2 million for the professionals, $500,000 for the celebrities) April 19-21 at Las Colinas Country Club in suburban Dallas and broadcast on The GOLF Channel.
Annika is expected to compete for the celebrity title, which Tony Romo won last year.
