With golf season fast approaching, make 2023 the year you include Oregon’s magnificent courses on your golf vacation radar.
Two of Oregon’s best are Brasada Canyons and Running Y.
Here’s the inside scoop on these two scenic 18-hole beauties.
The first is Brasada Canyons at Brasada Ranch in Central Oregon. Just 30 minutes from Bend, OR, Brasada offers the use of its picturesque golf course to residents, hotel guests, and club members only—and with no two holes running parallel to each other, this gives golfers plenty of privacy in which to perfect their swings. But the main draw is the absolutely stunning view of the high desert, majestic mountains, and wide, open skies of the surrounding countryside. Designed by Jim Hardy and native Oregonian Peter Jacobsen, the course is known for the best 18 views in Central Oregon.
The meticulously maintained greens of the golf course stand out against the desert brush of the surrounding area. These fast greens mean easier putts, and people of all skill levels will enjoy the course thanks to its five sets of tees that offer challenges for beginners all the way to professionals.
Running Y Resort in sunny Klamath Falls, Oregon is renowned for its spa, its outdoors activities, and its Signature Arnold Palmer golf course, the only one of its kind in Oregon. Designed, in part, by Palmer himself, it incorporates the surrounding scenery with the golf course. The course weaves through forests and around lakes, and its wide open spaces offer a view of the mesmerizing Cascade Range. Palmer even declared it to be one of his favorite golf courses, including it in his “Sweet 16” picks.
In addition to the 18-hole course, Running Y boasts a mini-golf course that incorporates much of Palmer’s design theory. It also offers lessons, club fittings, and practice spaces, and guests of the resort can take advantage of its many other amenities and accommodations.
