July the 7th sees the launch of Sicily’s most exciting new luxury spa destination, the exclusive ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA. A sustainable property designed to blend harmoniously within the natural landscape, the resort rests gently on a secluded plateau overlooking Sicily’s southern-most coastline. Harnessing the innate power of nature, the impressively large spa complex features an endless vista of the Mediterranean with each of the 15 treatment cabins enjoying uninterrupted views of the gardens and sea beyond.

Each element of the new spa resort has been centred around a sense of lightness, a unique holistic concept devised by the ADLER group where guests can truly let go of everyday stresses and enjoy a revitalising and profound sense of wellbeing. The spacious spa is designed to soothe the mind body and soul with therapies and treatments aimed to relax, restore and revive, from head to toe. The resort’s three beautiful pools sit perfectly within the landscape overlooking the crystal-clear sea below. The freshwater infinity pool effortlessly floats above the coastline enjoying serene views of the south-facing horizon. A saltwater hydromassage pool eases away the stresses of everyday life. While the inviting Thalasso pool is a relaxing retreat set beneath a stunning Sicilian sky. The 25 metre sports pool is perfect for daily exercise and aqua yoga classes, with the therapeutic waves of the Mediterranean itself only a brief walk from the spa.

The use of water for wellbeing has ancient roots and many modern benefits. By harnessing the purifying qualities of water, it is possible to re-balance energy levels, creating a profound sense of renewal. With three independent Swedish saunas and extensive relaxation, spa and fitness zones, the wellbeing area extends to an impressive 3,200 m2. Inspired by the surrounding natural environment each of the 15 treatment rooms enjoy breath-taking views of the sea.

A secluded yoga platform sits amidst the beautiful gardens, one of the many locations where sessions are held during the resort’s regular yoga and wellbeing retreats. An oasis of calm, the gardens are perfect for meditation sessions or simply relaxing amidst the scent of orange blossom and wisteria. A signature collection of therapies has been created specifically for the new Sicilian resort which celebrate the natural elements of this ancient volcanic island.

Spa Manager Giulia Spitaleri Ciccarello (pictured top row 3rd left) gives her personal reflection of the new ADLER spa resort SICILIA… “The location is breathtaking, and the SPA is flooded with natural light which creates an atmosphere of “feeling close to nature”, yet also with stunning views on the ocean and the sunset. The interiors are made of natural materials, lots of cedarwood with colourful highlights and patterns that represent Sicily’s ancient Arabic culture. The cabins are warm and welcoming with earth-toned palettes and textures that promote overall relaxation for the mind, body and soul. A small river flows through the entire SPA and to reach the cabins, guests must cross a little bridge over the river.

Water is the key element connecting the spa interior to the gardens, then beyond to the Mediterranean Sea. In addition to the fifteen cabins, there is a beautiful barber shop and hairdressers and a large open-plan space dedicated to relaxation. We have introduced some typical Sicilian ingredients within the spa therapies that celebrate the island and its culture. For example, we use local essential oils like lemon, orange, mandarin and prickly pear and pistachio. These unique products are all from Sicily with many of essences being made by local artisans. Our beautiful new signature therapies include a Sicilian candle massage scented with amber and tobacco or prickly pear and broom essences. Our Etna Ritual uses volcanic dust to promote the purification of the skin while the Sicilian Memories massage for couples includes a pistachio surprise created by the chef.”
