BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, Mexico (August 4, 2026) – The World Surf League (WSL), Surf Open League, and Cerveza Pacífico have announced the return of the Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos, taking place November 19–22, 2026, at Playa Cerritos in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Now in its third year, the internationally recognized competition will bring together more than 120 professional surfers from around the globe while celebrating the region’s vibrant beach culture through a four-day festival of live music, sustainability programming, local vendors and community events.
As part of the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 2,000, the Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos 2026 will bring together more than 120 surfers from around the world, including athletes from North America, Latin America and Europe. The competition will feature a dedicated Mexican Women’s Division and provide emerging athletes with a pathway toward the highest levels of professional surfing.
Current confirmed athletes include:
- Alan Cleland Jr. (Mexico), ISA World Champion and WSL Championship Tour competitor
- Jhony Corzo (Mexico), ISA World Champion and Mexico’s first surfing world champion
- Sebastian Williams (Mexico), one of North America’s fastest-rising surfing talents
- Lucas Cassity (Mexico), Playa Cerritos local favorite and semifinalist at the inaugural event
Since its debut in 2024, the Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos has become a catalyst for the growth of competitive surfing in Mexico, blending world-class athletic competition with environmental stewardship, tourism and community engagement. The event arrives at a pivotal moment for the sport as global interest continues to build ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, while Mexico and Latin America continue producing a new generation of internationally competitive surfers.
Beyond the competition, the four-day event will offer free public programming celebrating Baja California Sur’s surf culture, including surf film screenings, beach cleanups, a local market, live music and a closing concert. Through its continued partnership with Cero Basura BCS, the festival will also promote sustainability through a zero single-use plastic initiative, recycling efforts and ocean conservation education.
As a platform that connects sport, tourism and environmental stewardship, the Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos continues to strengthen Baja California Sur’s reputation as a premier destination for sports tourism while generating opportunities for local communities and showcasing the region to international audiences.
“The Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos exemplifies the type of event that strengthens Baja California Sur’s position as a world-class sports tourism destination,” said Jesús Ordóñez Bastidas, Baja California Sur Tourism Board (FITUES/Visit Baja California Sur). “We are proud to support initiatives that celebrate our natural beauty, generate economic impact and showcase our state to international audiences.”
All Pacífico Surf Open Cerritos 2026 activities will be free and open to the public. The full schedule of competition heats, concerts and festival programming will be announced through the official channels of Surf Open League, World Surf League and Cerveza Pacífico in the coming weeks.
