Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium (WOW) was selected as a winner of Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Travel Awards. Located minutes from Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri, WOW was deemed an “adventure-ready” attraction for those who enjoy action-packed experiences.
Part of the Johnny Morris Conservation Foundation attractions, established by Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris to advance conservation by connecting people with nature and preserving outdoor recreation for future generations, WOW is home to more than 35,000 animals. Highlights include:
- Fishing vessels that once belonged to literary greats Zane Grey and Ernest Hemingway
- A three-story version of the Great Barrier Reef
- The Midwest’s only shark dive experience
- A penguin encounter
- 4D state-of-the-art dioramas that transport guests to the world’s most extreme wildlife habitats, from the frosty Arctic to the arid African Savanna
Since 2020, WOW has also played an instrumental role in rescuing cold-stunned sea turtles. Last year, WOW’s Sea Turtle Center rehabilitated 19 sea turtles, nursing them back to health over the course of three months before releasing them back into the waters off the coast of Florida.
In addition to WOW, additional Johnny Morris Conservation Foundation attractions include Dogwood Canyon Nature Park in Lampe, Missouri, as well as Ridgedale’s Top of the Rock Ozarks Heritage Preserve, featuring the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail and Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum, which boasts the largest private collection of Native American, Civil War-era and American West artifacts.
WOW is offering a Black Friday savings bundle for $175. Included are:
