Today, on National Plan for Vacation Day, the Cayman Islands has opened applications for its first-ever Chief Relaxation Officer — a two week, island-time gig inviting one traveler to rest – no schedules, no stress, no FOMO – selected by a real “Board of Relaxation.”
What’s the assignment you ask? It’s simple: to vaCay and embrace the art of slowing down. While Americans increasingly find it difficult to relax (see survey findings below), in the Cayman Islands it is a way of life.
📝 The Assignment (Yes, This Is the Actual Job Description):

- Sleep at least eight hours a night (naps encouraged).
- Spend daily time by the water – floating, reading, or doing nothing at all.
- Enjoy fresh local dishes like coconut ceviche.
- Sip island cocktails at iconic beachfront spots.
- Dine with Caymanian locals to learn their relaxation rituals.
- Explore nature and see rare island species like the blue iguana or Cayman parrot.
- End days with a tech-free sunset on Seven Mile Beach.
These aren’t perks, they’re mandates. Because the CRO isn’t on vacation… they’ve got “work” to do. 💰The benefits are as follows:
- Round-trip flights to Grand Cayman
- Round-trip island-hopping flights to Cayman Brac
- 14 nights of luxe island accommodations at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa and Le Soleil D’or
- Daily meal + activity stipend
- On-island transportation
- A custom “no-itinerary itinerary” designed by locals
- And bragging rights as Cayman’s first Chief Relaxation Officer
‼️ How to Apply:
- People can submit their “worst vacation ever” story at com/ChiefRelaxationOfficer. Applications close February 17, 2026.
- A real Board of Relaxation – Caymanian chefs, artists, community leaders – will pick the person who needs a vaCay the
