Mountain View, January 23, 2025 – At The Ameswell Hotel, we are inspired by art, nature, innovation, and technology. We are an independent, 255-room luxury hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our doors opened in July 2021 offering a new kind of approachable sophistication. One of our founding principles is our commitment to helping the environment.
We aim not only to minimize any negative carbon impact we may have but also to contribute to the healing of the Earth. To support this mission, we have partnered with SeaTrees by Sustain Surf to be carbon neutral. As of June 8th, 2024, SeaTrees was able to plant 4 million Mangrove Trees along the coast.
Over 90% of the Earth’s carbon is stored in the ocean, making it vital in combating climate change. Mangrove forests are powerful allies in this fight, absorbing carbon dioxide at rates 5–10 times higher than tropical rainforests. Their dense root systems trap organic matter, providing long-term carbon storage. Protecting and restoring these ecosystems is a crucial step toward reducing carbon dioxide levels and diminishing the effects of climate change.
At The Ameswell Hotel, we proudly wear the Ocean Positive badge. We are taking steps beyond simply offsetting our carbon emissions; we are actively removing more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than we produce in a year. This means that not only are we striving to reduce our ecological footprint, but we are also contributing positively to the environment by enhancing air quality and combating climate change.
Our hotel is honored to be the first hotel to receive the Ocean Positive label, reflecting our innovative practices and dedication to sustainability. This distinction serves as a testament to our ongoing initiatives that promote environmental health, such as utilizing renewable energy sources, planting only local flora on the property, and removing 96% of all single-use plastic within the hotel. By choosing to stay with us, our guests are actively supporting these vital efforts for a healthier planet.
