Netflix’s My Brilliant Career is putting South Australia in the spotlight and giving travelers a new reason to follow their favorite series all the way Down Under. The show has taken streamers by storm, now sitting in the Top 10 in 72 countries and hitting two weeks in a row as the #2 watched movie globally.
The new adaptation, which premiered August 13, was filmed across South Australia, with the state’s sweeping landscapes, vineyards and historic estates standing in for turn-of-the-century Australia. And for fans ready to take their Netflix binge IRL, many of the locations featured on screen can be experienced on a trip through the state.
In Adelaide, heritage buildings and streets helped bring the period setting to life, while the rolling vineyards and countryside of the Barossa Valley provided some of the series’ most cinematic rural backdrops. Fans can also venture to Para Para Mansion in Gawler, whose grounds appear in the show’s high-society scenes, or head farther south to Yallum Park in Penola, a grand Victorian homestead that doubles as Sybylla’s grandmother’s estate.
Together, the locations offer a new way to experience South Australia — trading the screen for a road trip through wine country, historic towns and landscapes now starring in one of Netflix’s newest adaptations.
