Nassau, The Bahamas – Rosewood Baha Mar is delighted to announce the launch of The Ocean Guardian Experience, an exclusive monthly event led by renowned Bahamian Dive Guide and Filmmaker, André Musgrove alongside a Reef Specialist from The Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS). This immersive experience offers guests the unique opportunity to explore the breathtaking underwater world of The Bahamas while supporting vital marine conservation efforts.
Each month, eight lucky guests will embark on a half-day boating adventure that includes a visit to the BREEF Underwater Sculpture Garden, a mesmerizing site commissioned by Sir John Nuttall. Guests will have the chance to explore the coral nursery and observe the vibrant marine life that thrives in this protected area. The journey continues with a second snorkel stop, allowing participants to further immerse themselves in the beauty of the Bahamian waters, including tropical fish, coral reefs, and possibly sightings of sea turtles and stingrays—making the snorkeling experience in the Bahamas unforgettable.
The experience culminates with a sustainably packaged gourmet lunch, crafted by the culinary team at Café Boulud The Bahamas. The lunch will feature locally sourced ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, and a commitment to minimizing environmental impact, aligning with Rosewood Baha Mar’s sustainability efforts.
André Musgrove, a key highlight of the experience, will be present throughout the journey, engaging guests with his extensive knowledge of the Bahamian marine environment and coral restoration efforts. His inspiring work as a filmmaker and dive guide provides guests with a deeper understanding of the importance of marine conservation. This personal interaction with André, combined with hands-on coral restoration activities, is a unique aspect of the trip.
In alignment with Rosewood Baha Mar’s commitment to sustainability, a portion of the proceeds from The Ocean Guardian Experience will directly support PIMS’s Reef Rescue Network, a Caribbean-wide coalition dedicated to coral restoration. Guests will actively contribute to the preservation of Bahamian reefs through education and hands-on activities. Coral Restoration Specialists will host an informational session on board, allowing guests to learn about coral gardening and how these efforts help rebuild damaged reefs. Additionally, a percentage of proceeds will be donated to PIMS, further supporting their mission to protect marine ecosystems—a growing trend in responsible travel that emphasizes giving back to the destinations visited.
“We are incredibly proud to offer our guests this one-of-a-kind experience that not only showcases the natural wonders of The Bahamas but also contributes to the preservation of our marine environment,” said Monica Ortiz, Managing Director of Rosewood Baha Mar. “The Ocean Guardian Experience is a testament to our ongoing dedication to sustainability and our commitment to offering meaningful and enriching experiences for our guests.”
Kate Harrison, a Coral Restoration Specialist at PIMS, emphasized the importance of the work being done in the area: “This is a fantastic opportunity for guests to not only explore the beauty of the Bahamian reefs but also to learn about the critical role coral restoration plays in protecting our marine environment.”
