REOPENING: Likuliku Lagoon Resort Unveils Exciting Multi-Million-Dollar Revitalization Project

FIJI, May 1st, 2025: Ahura Resorts – the 100% Fijian family-owned management company of Likuliku Lagoon Resort – is pleased to announce the reopening of Likuliku Lagoon Resort following its major FJD $10M/USD $4.2M/AUD $7M revitalization project.

The transformation underscores the property’s continued commitment to relaxed luxury, sustainable tourism, and world-class experiences.  After completing a series of enhancements over the past 3 months, Likuliku Lagoon Resort now proudly welcomes guests to enjoy the evolution of its renowned hospitality, featuring an innovative new dining concept, an interactive conservation hub dedicated to marine and ecological preservation and community care and elevated luxury accommodations designed to blend seamlessly with the resort’s breathtaking natural wilderness surroundings.

Further details on key additions to the resort:

  • New Restaurant, Saluwaki: Named after the Fijian word for a collection of indigenous herbs and spices, Saluwaki offers a concept dining experience that showcases Fijian-inspired Asian tapas. Featuring locally sourced ingredients, some of which come from the Resort’s own gardens and surrounding waters, the menu presents small-plate culinary delights served on handcrafted Kigoromo crockery from Japan. Dishes include ember-roasted Walu and handmade squid ink noodles, perfectly paired with curated cocktails and cellar wines. With an open kitchen, guests will embark on a flavorful journey through Asia in an intimate setting. With only 28 seats available for this exclusive “once during a stay” highlight dining event, a Saluwaki experience will also be included as part of the Resort’s all-inclusive dining offering.
  • Na Vanua Conservation Hub: Launched in collaboration with the award-winning Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation, a registered charitable trust, the Na Vanua Conservation Hub offers guests a unique, hands-on opportunity to engage with and support local ecosystems and Fijian culture. Featuring an immersive, interactive space with displays of field projects and opportunities for guests to engage directly with the Foundation Team, the hub focuses on vital conservation efforts including reforestation, mangrove restoration, the critically endangered Fiji Crested Iguana conservation program, coral planting, herb garden tours, and back-of-house waste and recycling tours. It also emphasizes community engagement, particularly through the Foundation’s key support project—the local village kindergarten—and works to build capacity and foster sustainable partnerships with the island’s indigenous resource owners.

“Na Vanua,” meaning “the land” in Fijian, reflects the deep connection between the land, its people, and nature, while celebrating the resort’s partnership with traditional landowners to preserve the local ecosystem.

The hub embodies the Foundation’s three key pillars: Above the Sea, Below the Sea, and Community, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and cultural preservation. The waters surrounding Malolo Island are designated as a protection zone by the Paramount Chief of Malolo Island, which includes the private island of Mociu (Honeymoon Island). This area is reserved exclusively for resort guests and is under the umbrella programs of biodiversity conservation.

Other enhancements include:

  • Refurbishment and Refresh of All Bures: Every bure at the resort has been refreshed, with 11 Beachfront Bures now featuring private plunge pools, bringing the total number of ever-popular Deluxe Beachfront Bures to 29. This expansion offers even more luxurious oceanfront accommodations, perfect for ultimate relaxation and privacy. The interior of each bure has been repainted, including the wooden floors, while new wallpaper and updated bathroom tapware add to the refreshed look. Guests will also enjoy an enhanced range of bathroom amenities. Additionally, Smart TVs with soundbars and espresso coffee machines, introduced in 2024, remain available. The overwater Bures have also been upgraded with luxurious new bathroom amenities for the bathing pavilion.
  • Environmentally Friendly Roof Thatching: Synthetic thatching has been completed on the roofs of the remaining Beachfront and Deluxe Beachfront Bures, further enhancing Likuliku’s sustainability efforts and bringing the entire resort to 100% coverage.
  • Main Restaurant, Dua Tale Bar, Pool and Public Area Bathrooms: The resort’s signature restaurant, Fijiana, now boasts a brand-new outdoor terrace deck, along with updated tiling and lighting throughout its interior and an upgraded breakfast buffet area. Dua Tale Bar, overlooking the Lagoon, has undergone a complete makeover, featuring new furnishings and design elements. The main pool has also been refreshed, and all public area bathrooms have been fully renovated.
  • Upgraded WiFi and Sound Systems: High-speed WiFi capacity has been enhanced with additional access points connected to the Starlink satellite network. Meanwhile, the bars and restaurants now feature an upgraded sound system, with music curated by Music Concierge.
  • Opening in June 2025 – Water Bottling and Production Plant: Still and sparkling water will be produced for both Likuliku and sister resort Malolo Island Resort and presented in recycled branded glass bottles made in the Resorts’ own recycling plant.   This bottled water will be supplied complimentary daily in all rooms.

We’re thrilled to welcome guests back to Likuliku Lagoon Resort following this significant revitalization. With a multi-million-dollar investment, we’ve taken the resort to new heights, elevating both our offerings and the guest experience. These changes reinforce our commitment to providing an exceptional experience as one of Fiji’s premier and iconic luxury resorts, and we look forward to continuing offering world-class experiences as Fiji’s tourism industry continues to thrive,” said Mr. Tony Whitton, Resort Owner and Managing Director of Ahura Resorts.
