Travelers heading to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef now have a new way to experience one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, with Journey Beyond’s Cruise Whitsundays unveiling its newly revitalized Heart Pontoon at Hardy Reef.
Following an extensive refurbishment, the revitalized Heart Pontoon offers a more premium way to explore the Outer Great Barrier Reef, with expanded viewing areas, more shaded deck space, refreshed guest amenities and an enhanced underwater observatory, allowing visitors to spend more time immersed in the reef both above and below the water.
The reopening is part of Journey Beyond’s $40 million investment in the Whitsundays and introduces a new way to experience the Great Barrier Reef after dark. Beginning July 20, the floating reef platform will become an exclusive overnight destination once day visitors depart, allowing overnight guests to enjoy private access to the reef from sunset through sunrise. Guests can choose between sleeping under the stars on the open-air deck (Reefsleep) or staying in one of the property’s underwater hotel suites (Reefsuites), where floor-to-ceiling windows offer uninterrupted views of marine life throughout the night.
The full-day adventure includes a scenic cruise through the Whitsunday Islands, four hours on the Outer Great Barrier Reef, snorkeling with all equipment provided, guided experiences led by certified Master Reef Guides, a semi-submarine tour, and a chef-prepared buffet lunch, with optional scuba diving and scenic helicopter flights available.
To celebrate Heart Pontoon’s return, Cruise Whitsundays is offering a limited-time Winter Offer, with 20% off the Great Barrier Reef Full Day Adventure using code WINTERGBRA20. Guests can experience the beauty of the Outer Great Barrier Reef from $155 USD per person. The offer is valid for bookings and travel until 31 August.
