National Margarita Day Recipes from a Mexico Resort to Celebrate at Home

Are you looking to celebrate National Margarita Day from the comfort of your home this year? Here are four recipes from the Fairmont Mayakoba Resort that are sure to spice up your holiday.

Spice up your typical margarita with this recipe from Fairmont Mayakoba that will transport you to the beach.  

Recipe – Cucumber Habanero Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 1oz 100% Agave Tequila Reposado
  • 1oz 100% Agave Tequila Reposado Habanero Infused*
  • 1oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • .75oz Agave Nectar*
  • Garnish: Orange Peel and Half Salted Rim
  • Glassware: Double Old Fashioned 12oz

Instructions:

First rim the glass with salt by taking a lime wedge and rubbing the outside of the lip of the glass. Then by using a plate with kosher salt on it press the rim of the glass to the salt. Salt half the rim.  Add all ingredients into a shaker tin then shake vigorously for 5 seconds. Strain over fresh ice into salt rimmed glass then garish with orange peel.

*Habanero Tequila:

Use 1 fresh habanero the size of a large strawberry. Slice is quarters then add to 1 bottle of Reposado tequila. Let rest for 24hrs.  Tequila is ready for use.

*Agave Nectar:

Using the similar ratio in making simple syrup do the same with agave nectar. One-part agave nectar: 1 part water. Feel free to add the zest of lime and orange to the syrup for added flavor.

16oz Agave Nectar: 16oz Water

Zest of 2 limes

Zest of 1 orange

Classic Margarita

– 40 ml Tequila

– 20 ml Triple Sec

– 20 ml Lime Juice

– Ice cube

– Lime for decoration

– Salt

Pour tequila, triple sec, lemon juice, and add ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Close the shaker and shake well. Rub the quarter lime on the rim of a margarita glass. Then dip the rim of the glass in fine salt to “frost” the glass. Pour the cocktail into the glass, garnish with a lime slice, and your Margarita is ready!

Winter Margarita

This spicy and tangy version of the Cinnamon and Passion Fruit Margarita makes a delicious and original drink.

Mix all the ingredients in a shaker, shake and strain the cocktail into pretty glasses frosted with Guérande salt. Decorate with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick for a touch of Christmas cheer.

– 30 ml Cointreau

– 50 ml of Tequila Blanco

– 20 ml Fresh Passion Fruit Juice

– 5 ml Cinnamon Syrup

Strawberry Mango Margarita

This fruity version of the Strawberry Mango Margarita is a fresh, full-flavored drink.

Blend the strawberries, mango, lime juice, and chili in a food processor until smooth. Fill your shaker with ice and pour in the fruit mixture; add the triple sec and tequila. Shake well, then strain into chilled cups. Add decoration if necessary!

– 80g Strawberries, hulled

– ¼ of Mango, cut into pieces

– 1/3 Juice of a Lime

– 1/5 Long Green Chili, seeded and finely chopped

– 10ml Triple Sec

– 30ml Tequila
