More Americans Started Flying Private During the Pandemic

While most people may think that flying private is just for the ultra-rich celebrities like Kylie Jenner, who recently used her private jet for a 3-minute commute, more than 1 in 4 middle-class Americans have flown private at least once in their lives.

That’s according to a new survey by BestPrivateJet.com, a leading online resource guide for private air travel. In July, BestPrivateJet.com surveyed 1,250 Americans who earn $50K or more annually regarding their commercial and private air travel experiences.

Additional key findings include:

  • Among Americans who have flown private, 31% did so for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • 26% of Americans who first flew private during the pandemic did so for protection from COVID-19.
  • 3 in 4 Americans who flew private for the first time since 2020 say it’s ‘very likely’ they’ll fly privately again in the future

Most people fly private ‘as a treat for a special occasion,’ like a honeymoon or birthday.
