La Paz, Baja California Sur – November 20, 2025 – La Paz proudly marks the one-year anniversary of its international air connection with Los Angeles, California. On November 20, 2024, Alaska Airlines inaugurated nonstop service between LAX and LAP, establishing the airport’s first international route in more than thirteen years. The launch signaled a new era of global connectivity for the destination and played a key role in La Paz’s continued tourism growth.
Since its debut, the route has delivered strong performance, supported by rising traveler demand. La Paz is pleased to announce that flight frequency has expanded from once weekly in 2024 to three times weekly in 2025. Alaska Airlines remains the only carrier providing nonstop service between the United States and La Paz, BCS—a destination celebrated for world-class diving, extraordinary marine life, and some of the finest sport fishing in the world.
Strengthening air access to the U.S. West Coast remains a strategic priority for the destination, which has recorded steady increases in passenger traffic over the past four years. The expanded LAX–LAP frequency further enhances accessibility for international visitors and reinforces La Paz’s position as a gateway where striking desert landscapes meet the Sea of Cortez.
Growing demand also reflects La Paz’s leadership in sustainable, conservation-focused tourism. Widely recognized for its commitment to preserving fragile ecosystems—from whale shark habitats to protected desert coastlines—the destination continues to attract responsible travelers seeking immersive, low-impact experiences. Its eco-tourism ethos plays a vital role in maintaining the region’s natural balance while supporting community-led initiatives and local economic development.
These efforts are coordinated in partnership with the destination’s tourism industry, the La Paz Airport, and all relevant authorities. Together, these organizations are dedicated to advancing responsible tourism, elevating the visitor experience, and showcasing La Paz on the international stage.
As La Paz expands its international connectivity, the destination looks forward to welcoming more travelers who value sustainability, cultural authenticity, and one of Mexico’s most captivating coastal environments.
