As FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, Miami is once again stepping onto the global stage, further reinforced by its recent recognition as the “hottest sports city” by Travel + Leisure, demonstrating its ability to deliver complex, high-profile international events at scale.
This summer, Hard Rock Stadium (to be named “Miami Stadium” during the matches) will host seven FIFA World Cup matches, including knockout rounds and the third-place match, welcoming fans and teams from around the world.
Beyond the stadium, the FIFA Fan Festival™ Miami will transform more than 436,000 square feet of Bayfront Park into a large-scale, immersive fan destination over 23 days (June 13 – July 5), with live match broadcasts, cultural programming, and capacity for up to 30,000 attendees per day—further extending the event’s footprint across the city.
But for meeting planners, the bigger story is what happens behind the scenes.
Miami’s ability to execute an event of this magnitude reflects a deeply integrated infrastructure, spanning transportation, security, hospitality, and venue operations, that is equally critical for large-scale meetings and conventions. From enhanced security planning and crowd management strategies to seamless international accessibility, the same systems supporting the World Cup are the ones powering Miami’s meetings industry.
Adding to this momentum, the destination debuted Miami Freedom Park on April 4, a new 26,000+ seat stadium within a 131-acre mixed-use district featuring public parkland, retail, dining, and hospitality, designed to host everything from major sporting events to concerts and corporate gatherings, and further strengthening Miami’s capacity for large-scale, year-round events.
This builds on a broader ecosystem that already includes globally recognized venues and a proven track record of hosting events like the Super Bowl, Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open and other major international sporting competitions.
For meeting planners, the takeaway is clear: if Miami can deliver one of the world’s largest sporting events, it can execute complex meetings and conventions with the same level of precision, scale, and experience.
