NEW YORK–Hotels Above Par, the discerning digital authority on boutique hotels and travel, is expanding its ecosystem with the launch of an inaugural quarterly print newspaper. While the independent media brand’s digital presence continues to thrive with over 500,000 readers and several newsletters, this new subscription-based model offers a “new-age analog” extension, inviting its community to step away from the screen and experience travel journalism in a classic, collectible format. Quarterly and annual subscriptions are available now at a founding rate of $14.99 per quarter, exclusively from Hotels Above Par.
The debut 12-page issue, swathed in the brand’s iconic butter yellow, features eight curated stories on boutique hotels, design-forward travel, and contemporary culture. The first issue is edited by Dan Howarth and presented by Safara, the all-in-one app for boutique hotel lovers, with additional support from Cassette, the music curation platform for design-forward hotels.
“Our digital platforms work incredibly well for us and our readers, but there is a distinct beauty in the ritual of print. We want to celebrate that heritage. This newspaper isn’t a replacement for the digital experience; it’s an invitation to go analog and enjoy our stories offline. We plan to work with different editors for each coming issue, celebrating the power of diversified perspectives within the editorial space.”
––Brandon Berkson, Founder, Hotels Above ParTo maintain a fresh and discerning edge, every issue is guest-edited by a different leading travel journalist, making each edition a unique artifact of travel culture. Further championing print, Berkson will open an indie newsstand pop-up over the summer; an announcement on specifics is coming soon.
To bring the newspaper to new readers, Hotels Above Par will stock the edit at a curated selection of venues across the United States, including all locations of The Malin, as well as members clubs, wellness destinations, independent bookstores, specialty coffee shops, and design-forward concept stores. Readers encounter the publication in the spaces they already frequent and subscribe directly through Hotels Above Par to receive each quarterly edition. Current venue placements are live in New York City and Los Angeles, with the program expanding to Miami, Chicago, Nashville, and a set of destination and seasonal markets including the Hamptons, Nantucket, Aspen, and beyond.
