Want to know a secret? September and October may be the best-kept secret for golf travel to Scottsdale.
While courses overseed and temperatures remain warm (especially early September), savvy golfers discover significant advantages during this overlooked window.
Upper-tier courses maintain exceptional shape with firm, fast conditions that rival tournament-ready February and March standards. Players enjoy easier tee time access and substantially lower rates compared to peak season. Most courses eliminate access restrictions, allowing cart-to-ball driving, and some implement 90-degree rules — both preferable to cart-path-only conditions following overseeding.
Mornings and evenings offer comfortable temperatures, while afternoons stay warm but rarely extreme. September and October rank among Scottsdale’s most consistently sunny months. Additionally, resorts and restaurants offer greater availability with noticeably smaller crowds than spring’s peak season.
Visitors will need to be mindful that course closures occur as clubs rotate overseeding schedules from late September through early November, transitioning from warm-season to cool-season grasses. However, online overseeding schedules allow visitors to access most bucket-list courses with minimal planning.
