Uniquely for the Golden Eagle Danube Express journeys, the train will be steam-hauled for the first leg of the journey between Budapest and Keszthely, where passengers then disembark for a tour of the beautiful Festetics Palace and a cruise on the calm waters of Lake Balaton. Back onboard, the train meanders into Slovakia for a visit to Bratislava’s medieval Old Town before crossing the Iron Curtain into Vienna. Here guests have time to savour the Baroque elegance of the city visiting the Vienna Opera House, the majestic Ringstrasse, St Stephen’s Cathedral, and enjoying a concert at the Lichtenstein Palace. The journey continues to Krakow for a spot of sightseeing and the opportunity to detour to Auschwitz ahead of arrival in Prague, where guests leave the Golden Eagle Danube Express behind to admire the many architectural treasures of the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’.
