Guests step aboard the Golden Eagle Danube Express in Budapest, where the hotel-on-wheels is waiting to whisk passengers across central Europe with pauses in Keszthely, Bratislava, Vienna and Krakow ahead of the journey’s end, Prague.

Uniquely for the Golden Eagle Danube Express journeys, the train will be steam-hauled for the first leg of the journey between Budapest and Keszthely, where passengers then disembark for a tour of the beautiful Festetics Palace and a cruise on the calm waters of Lake Balaton. Back onboard, the train meanders into Slovakia for a visit to Bratislava’s medieval Old Town before crossing the Iron Curtain into Vienna.  Here guests have time to savour the Baroque elegance of the city visiting the Vienna Opera House, the majestic Ringstrasse, St Stephen’s Cathedral, and enjoying a concert at the Lichtenstein Palace. The journey continues to Krakow for a spot of sightseeing and the opportunity to detour to Auschwitz ahead of arrival in Prague, where guests leave the Golden Eagle Danube Express behind to admire the many architectural treasures of the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’. Other highlights here include a vintage tram ride through the city to Prague Castle and tasting a traditional Czech afternoon tea.
