Give the Gift of Oregon’s Best Golf Courses This Father’s Day

With Father’s Day right around the corner, why not give the gift of Oregon golf?

Here are five exceptional Oregon golf courses that are sure to make Dad smile.

Any would make for an excellent Father’s Day trip, or as a Father’s Day gift to be used later in the year.

Brasada Canyons at Brasada Ranch

Just 30 minutes from Bend, OR, Brasada offers the use of its picturesque golf course to residents, hotel guests, and club members only—and with no two holes running parallel to each other, this gives golfers plenty of privacy in which to perfect their swings. But the main draw is the absolutely stunning view of the high desert, majestic mountains, and wide, open skies of the surrounding countryside. Designed by Jim Hardy and native Oregonian Peter Jacobsen, the course is known for the best 18 views in Central Oregon. Fast greens mean easier putts, and people of all skill levels will enjoy the course thanks to its five sets of tees that offer challenges for beginners all the way to professionals.

Running Y Resort

Located in Klamath Falls, Running Y is renowned for its outdoors activities, including the Signature Arnold Palmer golf course, the only one of its kind in Oregon. Designed, in part, by Palmer himself, it incorporates the surrounding scenery with the golf course. The course weaves through forests and around lakes, and its wide open spaces offer a view of the mesmerizing Cascade Range. Palmer even declared it to be one of his favorite golf courses, including it in his “Sweet 16” picks. It also offers lessons, club fittings, and practice spaces, as well as a mini-golf course.

Florence Golf Links

This 18-hole course in Florence abuts the Siuslaw River right as it winds its way to the shores of the Oregon Coast. Florence Golf Links incorporates the rugged coastal landscape into its design, especially its outer nine, which are filled with pristine lakes and towering pines. The inner nine are more traditional Links, with dunes and sand pits, while still unmistakably coastal thanks to the sea air and coastal birds floating overhead. Morning rates can be a little pricey, but still well within a reasonable price for a Father’s Day outing.

The Courses at Mt Hood Resort

While Mt Hood is famous for its many winter sports, it’s also home to Oregon’s oldest operating golf resort, established in 1928. Mt Hood resort features three beautiful nine-hole courses surrounded by forest and in the shadow of the mountains. Each is very affordable to play on, and they’re especially enjoyable on warm, clear spring and summer days.

Trysting Tree Golf Course

Corvallis, Oregon, is home to plenty more than just Oregon State University. The home course for the OSU golf team, Trysting Tree is a low-lying Scottish links style design that winds along the Willamette River floodplain, making it a more “traditional” golf course. It also offers student discounts, perfect for college students looking for a great Father’s Day gift.
