Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has just unveiled its boldest wellness statement to date — and it’s set against one of the most iconic backdrops in Canada.
BASIN Glacial Waters, now open exclusively to overnight guests at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, introduces a new global flagship for wellness across the Fairmont brand — a concept 20 years in the making, realized by acclaimed AD100 architect Matteo Thun. This debut is part of a $130 million investment in Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and is being recognized as the most significant addition to the property in decades.
More than a spa, BASIN marks the beginning of a new era of luxury hospitality, where wellness is not an amenity — it’s the destination. Set within a dramatically designed, minimalist space with sweeping views of Lake Louise, BASIN is a natural extension of its alpine environment — but also a striking step forward in Fairmont’s global wellness evolution.
Rooted in ancient thermal bathing traditions and reimagined through a contemporary lens, BASIN invites guests on self-guided journeys of renewal through:
- A seamless indoor-outdoor thermotherapy circuit: traditional Finnish, Bio, and Aufguss saunas, steam cabins, crushed ice, mist, and glacial pools
- The ‘Aufguss Ceremony’: a multi-sensory, aroma-infused sauna experience led by certified “Aufguss Meisters”
- Five curated “Wellness Trails,” like Stillness and Presence, designed to guide guests toward rest, clarity, or calm
- The Glacier Lounge: a restorative food and beverage space offering adaptogens, elixirs, nootropics — and Champagne, for a celebratory finish
