Roseau, Dominica – July 17, 2025 – For the fourth year in a row, Dominica (pronounced Dom-in-EEK-a) has been honored in Travel + Leisure’s esteemed World’s Best Awards as a top island in the region. This year, Dominica was ranked the No. 2 island in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas, and No. 18 on the list of Best Islands in the World. Known as the Nature Island, Dominica continues to capture the hearts of travelers seeking destinations rooted in authenticity, adventure, and sustainability.
“We are incredibly proud that Dominica has once again earned a top spot among the best destinations in the Caribbean and the world,” said Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton, Dominica’s Minister for Tourism. “This sustained recognition by Travel + Leisure readers underscores the strength of our tourism offerings and the authenticity, beauty, and warmth that set Dominica apart.”
Travel + Leisure readers gave Dominica a score of 88.89, just behind Anguilla’s 89.21, reinforcing the island’s status as one of the most desirable travel destinations in the region and across the globe.
Enhancing the island’s accessibility, the Discover Dominica Authority recently announced that United Airlines will expand its nonstop service from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM). Beginning October 29, 2025, United will offer a second weekly flight on Wednesdays, complementing the existing Saturday service. This expansion offers travelers increased flexibility, with convenient options for three-, four- or seven-night getaways throughout the winter travel season.
Adding to this year’s accolades, Secret Bay, Dominica’s six-star, all villa rainforest resort experience and a member of Relais & Châteaux, was named the No. 2 Resort in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas and earned a coveted spot on Travel + Leisure’s Top 100 Hotels in the World. The eco-luxury resort has consistently earned a top spot on the list, being the No. 1 resort in the Caribbean region four of the last six years. The resort is known for its remote locale, private accommodations with plunge pools, hyper-personalized service, island-to-table dining and no concept menu, chef-driven epicurean culinary experience and wellness offerings.
“Dominica is proud to boast world-class stakeholders like Secret Bay who continue to raise the bar when it comes to luxury, sustainability, and service,” said Hon. Charles-Pemberton. “This international recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our tourism stakeholders and our ongoing commitment to providing unforgettable experiences rooted in nature and authenticity.”
Dominica continues to attract nature seekers, wellness travelers, and adventure enthusiasts from around the world. From canyoning and hiking to diving and whale watching, the island offers a wealth of outdoor experiences. Dominica also remains the only country in the world where sperm whales reside year-round. A recent Travel + Leisure feature, “Swimming With Sperm Whales in Dominica”, spotlighted this rare opportunity, capturing the awe of encountering these majestic creatures in their natural environment and reaffirming Dominica’s reputation as one of the most unique nature destinations on the planet.
Each year, Travel + Leisure readers rate islands based on natural attractions, activities, food, hospitality, and overall value. The World’s Best Awards remain a trusted source of inspiration for travelers worldwide, and Dominica’s continued presence on the list further solidifies its place among the world’s most extraordinary island escapes.
