The Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary this November, marking half a century of mountain culture, adventure, inspiration, and storytelling with an epic lineup featuring iconic names like Børge Ousland, Christina “Lusti” Lustenberger, Wade Davis, James Balog, Lynn Hill, and more.
Since 1976, the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival has evolved from a small gathering into an internationally recognized event that showcases the best in mountain culture, outdoor sports, adventure travel, environmental awareness, and storytelling. Each year, it draws thousands of outdoor, film, and book enthusiasts every year for nine days of events and screenings.
This 2025 edition (November 1-8) will feature 80+ films, including world and North American premieres, alongside author talks, photography exhibitions, downtown events, live music, and a marketplace.
New this year is the Fire and Ice Symposium, a new competition offering a $25,000 prize for emerging filmmakers, as well as the launch of Banff @Altitude, a retrospective podcast with mountain legends.
